Jim Miller
Senior Channel Manager
What's the biggest misconception people have about your position?
Channel Managers are often seen as “order fulfillment” people for our partners. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. We generally have to sell our solution twice to two completely different audiences. Partners are trying to find the best service for their customer. Once we show them that we are the best option, we then have to work together to get buy in from the customer.
What's one hobby that you would like to get into?
I have always been fairly handy at repairing things and have fixed many golf clubs over the years. A friend recently asked me to help restore an old set of rusty clubs that had sentimental value. It was a learning experience but eventually I had them looking brand new. It is a hobby that I would like to get more into in the future.
What's one piece of advice you would give to your teenage self?
I would tell my teenage self to not always follow the path that you think people expect you to take, find your own and enjoy the journey.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
I have a whiteboard next to my computer where I write down each day’s important tasks. As the day progresses, I cross each task off one by one as they are completed. If something new comes up that needs to be done, I add it to the list. I never end my day until there is nothing left on that board.
What's are you most excited for in 2024?
I have been reaching out to partners and there is an interest in our Microsoft Calling Services like nothing I have seen before. When you have a service that genuinely helps people it is exciting to get the word out to as many partners and customers as you possibly can. I am really excited to get out in the field in 2024 and show people what we can do!
